Illness
& Disease
Most
ill Burmese pythons are ill as a result of poor husbandry.
If you
feel your snake isn't thriving, first make certain it has all it needs
and the caging & care is appropriate. The biggest issue I find
is people housing their Burmese in too small an enclosure - this robs
the snake of space which leads a number of diseases, but more importantly
it robs the snake of a THERMAL GRADIENT. Since you hold your snake
captive, your cage MUST provide a thermal gradient and enough room
for the snake to get ALL of its body in each thermo-cline. The most
common corrective measure for disease is to correct the environment.
Have you double-checked your snake enclosure's temps today? They should
range from 90F to 75F and your snake should have enough room for it
to coil completely in each temp range.
